Another life…

Today my friend Jayodha told me something that I have never knew before. Last Saturday she has gone to our school’s swimming pool (she was in ma school that’s why I said ‘our school’) as she had swimming practices. But the pool was closed and they have canceled all the swimming lessons. Jayodha wanted to know what really was going on so she has gone inside. There was a guy who looked like about 20years old, swimming in the pool. Some people who looked like his family has gathered around the pool watching him swimming.

Later Jayodha got to know that the guy was a cancer patient having a brain tumor and his last wish was to swim in a swimming pool. All the other schools have rejected his request but only ours let him in.

Ok so the thing that confuses me is why did they close the pool to public on that day? Jayodha said it’s because people think they will get radiations from that patient as he was treated with those. Even the water of the pool will be changed and it will be closed for a week. I just can’t believe this. It’s true that we have to be protected too but think how that patient would feel when he knows he’s treated like this! At least there should be separated pools for people with difficulties. I don’t know about other countries but I don’t think we have anything like that in Sri Lanka. Life can be so difficult sometimes…

Mind…Soul

Unexpected things can happen suddenly. You never know but you may loose your senses one day. Most of the time people laugh at mentally ill ones. Making fun of them, calling them by various names…but how you ever thought what you would do if the same thing happens to you one day? What if your loved ones get mentally ill? We didn’t choose to get sick, get insulted or to be born in the way we are now.

Mentally ill people needs the love and care more than anyone else in this world because they are struggling with their selves to find the real world. Think how hard it would be if your whole world is dark and you are trapped without knowing what to do..think how hard it would be to know that you can’t control your own self. Simplest way to understand the situation of a mentally ill person is to imagine your self trapped in a box for a minute without even having air to breath. That’s what a mentally ill person suffer everyday not just for sixty seconds. May be you have a loved one who needs your help. Keep your patience. Try to help him or her in anyway you can. He or she may scold you or hit you. At each time think of the times you spent when she or he was no longer sick, think of the happy moments you had. Because they don’t know what they are doing now, they are helpless. If you can stay really calm at the things they are doing then there really is a God in you…They may have lost their mind but not their soul…After all we all are humans…
